You can access email and the internet with nearly any Palm OS handheld by using a wireless modem add-on, but what gives the Palm i705 the edge is that is has built-in wireless capability. Once you’ve signed up on your Palm i705 with the Palm.Net service you’re ready to do business on the go, anywhere, anytime. This is mobile computing at its best – convenient, simple and practical. The Palm i705 has a monochrome display that is easy to read. It’s smaller than the first wireless device made by Palm (the Palm VII) fitting snugly in the palm of your hand, with the built-in antenna taking up the top portion of the device. Other features include Palm's dual expansion architecture, with both an SD (Secure Digital) and Multimedia Card slot and the now standard Universal Connector. A new feature with this handheld is the Star button, situated where the Calculator button used to be. You can program this button to open your favorite application – with Palm fans that’s probably going to be the much-loved Documents To Go Professional Edition, which is part of the software bundle shipped with the Palm i705. Professionals also can’t do without AOL Instant Messenger for sms’s and MultiMail for e-mail. And, of course, all Palm i705s’s come with the standard Address Book, Date Book, Clock, To Do List, Memo Pad and Note Pad, etc. applications. The very useful 16mb expansion card slot, which is positioned on the side of the Palm i705, allows you to extend the i705’s memory so you can also use it for storing software, documents, e-books, pictures, videos, music, etc., and as a backup device when traveling.
