A personal digital assistant is a personal choice, but reviewers agree you can’t go wrong with a Dell PDA. Online reviews and comparative feature charts of PDAs on the internet show that Dell is streets ahead of its competitors when it comes to PDAs. If you need a reasonably priced, high-performance personal assistant, consider a Dell PDA. One Dell PDA in particular, the Dell Axim X30, is recommended time and again by users and editors of computer magazines for its outstanding performance and range of features. The X30 comes in three different ‘flavors’ or prices, with the ‘middle-road’ X30 sporting a 312MHz Intel processor, 64mb of memory and 64mb flash ROM for storing your data. It includes Wi-Fi for connecting to the Internet via high-speed hot spots and runs Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition. This Dell PDA model has a color screen that supports horizontal orientation, a removable battery as well as an internal backup battery, Bluetooth and an SD card slot. The handheld’s only drawback is that it isn’t compatible with the Mac without installing extra software. Another must-have Dell PDA at the high-end of the market is the Dell X50. This model also comes in 3 ‘flavors’, each successive ‘flavor’ costing about $100 more than the previous ‘flavor’. While the X30 was targeted at those looking for a slim, light device, the ‘middle-road’ X50 is aimed at mainstream users, and it’s slightly weightier than the X30. Being a pocket PC PDA, it runs Pocket PC OS, i.e., Windows for handhelds. It is said that nothing in the same at price range as the X50 compares with the number of features offered by this handheld. It has 64mb of RAM, 48mb of ROM, is powered by an IntelXScale 400MHz processor and includes SD and Multimedia card slots.
